Meet Jessica Brun of Wild Motherhood: Lactation Counselor & New Parent Coach
Jessica Brun is the kind of resourceful, compassionate guide every new parent dreams of having in their corner. Based in Longmont, Colorado, she’s spent over 15 years supporting families through the early stages of parenthood. As a Lactation Counselor and New Parent Coach, Jessica empowers parents with confidence and guidance when they need it most.
“I’m Jessica—mom to two wonderful kids, born and raised in the beautiful Front Range,” she shares. “I feel lucky to call this area home and to serve new parents through Wild Motherhood as they navigate the journey of parenthood.”
How Jessica’s Career Began
Jessica’s path into parent coaching and lactation support wasn’t something she initially planned. “I started college like most people, but after two years, I realized I hadn’t found anything I was passionate about studying,” she says.
During a break from school, she worked at her dad’s chiropractic and functional medicine clinic. “That experience lit a spark for me,” she recalls. “I loved working one-on-one with patients and seeing the impact we could have by supporting their health and well-being.”
It wasn’t long before Jessica realized her love for birth work as well. After attending births to support close friends, she knew she’d found her calling. “After my second experience as a birth support person, I was hooked. Becoming a doula and lactation counselor was the obvious next step,” she explains.
Why Jessica Loves Her Work
For Jessica, the most fulfilling part of her work is being welcomed into families’ lives during such a meaningful time. “It’s such an honor to be invited into someone’s home during one of the most intimate transitions of their lives,” she says.
She finds joy in helping parents gain confidence in their abilities. “Whether it’s feeding their baby, trusting their instincts, or figuring out how to juggle it all, being that guiding voice for parents is the best part of what I do,” she shares.
Memorable Moments on the Job
One standout experience for Jessica involved supporting a family facing an unusual challenge. “A couple came to me with a baby who had a limb difference. They wanted to figure out how to nurse and baby-wear but weren’t sure where to start. Honestly, neither was I,” she laughs.
Together, they explored solutions, including creative carrier adjustments, and ultimately succeeded. “By the end of that session, the baby was nursing comfortably in the carrier, and the parents were so relieved. I’ll never forget that moment and their trust in me as we figured it out together,” she recalls.
Jessica also has a special place in her heart for NICU families. “When those babies finally come home, it’s such a joy to help parents settle in and make feeding work in their own space,” she says.
Busting Myths About Lactation Support
Jessica emphasizes that her services aren’t just for breastfeeding families. “I work with parents who want to formula-feed, pump exclusively, transition to formula, or cup feed. My goal is to support you on your feeding journey—whatever that looks like,” she says.
She also notes that lactation support doesn’t end in the newborn stage. “I often work with families later down the road, whether they’re navigating solids, weaning, or adjusting feeding routines to fit their lifestyle,” Jessica explains.
Jessica’s Advice for New Parents
Jessica shares these words of wisdom: Breastfeeding isn’t always easy, and that’s okay. You’re not doing anything wrong.
Step away from Google—it can create unnecessary stress. And don’t let scary stories from others shake your confidence.
Listen to your gut. It’s there for a reason and is usually right.
Beyond Birth Work
When Jessica isn’t supporting families, she’s working on home improvement projects with her husband. “We’re always updating, painting, or reimagining spaces in our house,” she says.
Her love for design even spills into her work. “I’m always happy to help parents get their nursery or bedrooms ready!”
Jessica’s family also loves traveling. “We homeschool part-time and my husband works remotely, so we hit the road as often as we can, whether in our camper or with a home swap,” she shares.
