Laura Burgess (she/her/hers) is a New England native, a Registered Nurse and Board
Certified Lactation Consultant, an educator, and a retired comedian. Over the past 13
years, she has championed birthing people and their families through pregnancy, labor
and delivery, and the postpartum period. When it comes to taking care of families, she is
a self proclaimed hype woman extreme
She descends from a long line of healers, women who dedicated their lives to caring for
ferocious birthers-turned-mothers. Her passion is further fueled by the fact that birthers
in this country need and deserve better care than is often provided to them
Laura thrives at the intersection of the traditional and modern. In a world that can feel
overpowered by standard medicine and intervention, she has spent her career
advocating for a birther’s natural instincts. Her guiding principle is “sensibility and
science.” She has honed this balance in hospitals, clinics, and in-home settings alike,
empowering pregnant and postpartum people to be active participants in their care.
Ultimately, she wants you to make decisions that feel best for yourself and your families!
Her greatest joy is being with you in your home. Laura helps you care for yourself and
your newborn with compassion, intuition, practicality, and most of all, fun! Through
providing education on general newborn and postpartum care—signs and symptoms of
concern, feeding of every kind, soothing, sleeping, and more—she eases your transition
home, making it feel as soft and as seamless as possible.
