Whether you are pregnant for the first time or have already had children you may find the idea of labor and birth to be overwhelming. In order to feel more prepared, relaxed and confident during your labor and birth, most women and their partners choose to attend a childbirth education class to learn valuable information about pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum to lessen their anxiety.
There are so many fantastic childbirth education opportunities in our area—both in group and private settings. Many of our doulas run childbirth education classes locally, and you can have your pick of styles and configurations. When searching for the right class, you may be interested in asking the instructor’s philosophy about labor and birth, topics covered in the curriculum, the role of the partner, class fees, number of participants, and frequency/length of classes. Once these questions are answered, couples can pick the class that most meets their needs and matches their own philosophy of birth.
