Reiki

Emotional, spiritual & physical support – for both mama and baby during the perinatal time

Reiki is a Japanese healing art that was developed by Usui Mikao just over 100 years ago. The practice supports the mind, body and spirit by supporting the energy in the body to release and balance, supporting the body to self-heal. It is an extremely gentle practice and is safe during pregnancy. During the perinatal time, it supports mamas in many ways.

Fertility

  • Grief support- Reiki can support the body to release the grief that is held from miscarriage, infertility and abortion. Often when trying to conceive, the grief and fear from previous losses can be debilitating. Regular Reiki sessions can gently support the body to release the fear and grief, supporting pregnancy.
  • Energetic support while trying to get pregnant- pregnancy is a yin practice of receiving. Even while doing fertility treatments, a calm mama, a calm environment to welcome a baby is beautiful. Regular Reiki sessions help calm your nervous system to welcome pregnancy.

Pregnancy

  • Energetic and spiritual support- to stay grounded and calm, to help release the fears and the unknowns that show up during pregnancy, to stay connected to the baby and your own body as you experience so many changes.
  • Physical support- low back pain, morning sickness, high blood pressure, general physical discomfort. Reiki supports the body to heal itself and release tension in the physical body.
  • Hormonal fluctuations and emotional support- Reiki supports grounded calm.
  • Fatigue- a Reiki session is a deep rest and can be a wonderful refill of your energy.

Postpartum

  • Birth is such an energetically opening time- and it is life-changing. It can be challenging to come back to yourself (though you will never be the same!) Reiki supports your energy to come back to you, to return.
  • Birth doesn’t always go as planned, and it can be traumatic. Though the “baby is fine” mom is not always, and she needs support. To process the disappointment, grief and trauma that can come postpartum, Reiki gently supports these emotions to move through the body.
  • Postpartum can be exciting and exhausting- you can bring your newborn with you to the Reiki session and the practitioner can wear the baby during the session- it is a beautiful experience- both mom and baby receive Reiki!
  • Elimination can slow down or stop postpartum and Reiki can help get things moving and functioning again!

How do I schedule and learn more?

For more information, contact Tekla Ayers at Be Rooted Healing Arts– you can set up an initial phone call to chat and to set up your first session. If you are new to Reiki, here is a walk-through of what to expect. Again, if you have a newborn, you can bring your baby and Tekla can wear baby in a wrap during the session!
