Zoey Helgesen

Zoey Helgesen (she/her) is a postpartum caregiver dedicated to making life smoother and more supportive for those who are raisingchildren. With over a decade of experience in childcare, including teaching in early childhood classrooms and working closely with families in their homes, she brings to her practice knowledge and compassion for the parenting & caregiving experience.

Zoey believes that all families raising children should have access to the care that they want. Her postpartum care is designed to be affirming for parents and families who don’t feel like they fit traditional molds. She centers LGBTQ+ families and their allies in her practice, and is passionate and curious about radical and anarchist parenting philosophies. She sees the importance of bringing kind, sensitive, smart, and self-aware children into the world, and wants to nurture and support the people who are doing that work. It is Zoey’s belief that supportive relationships and community care are powerful tools, and she takes seriously the notion that it takes a village.

Some core values that guide Zoey’s ongoing work as a person and a postpartum doula are equality, sustainability, accessibility, accountability, simplicity, and love. As your doula, she will work with you and your support system to ensure that caregivers are getting adequate rest, nutrition, education, and support. She offers overnight newborn care, where she will support your family in your infant feeding choice, and care for baby overnight so that parents/caregivers can get the most sleep possible. Daytime shifts can include care in the form of preparing meals & foods for the healing postpartum body, emotional support & processing, newborn care while parents rest, big sibling adjustment, and light household care & upkeep.

For more information, please visit kinfolkpostpartum.com or email Zoey directly at zoey@kinfolkpostpartum.com. You can also call/text (303) 578-2477.

Some of her favorite things outside of working are spending quality time with her chihuahua soulmate (Gaia), cooking for herself and her chosen family members, skiing Eldora or Mary Jane, obsessing over body mechanics in the gym, and working on cross stitch projects in coffee shops around town.

Building Community as an Act of Resistance–Zoey Helgesen
