Hi! My name is Jorden. Take a deep breath and relax… I am here for you to help you and your family navigate your way through the childbearing journey. My passion and life’s purpose is to help women have amazing, and empowering pregnancies, births, and postpartum transitions.
My journey to get here started in nursing school when I fell in love with the birth process during my labor and delivery clinical rotation. Upon graduation I applied for as many labor and delivery nursing jobs as I could, however, in the end I accepted the first job offered to me, which was at a small surgery center. I figured I would “pay my dues”, so to speak, and gain experience so I might look more appealing to the recruiters for the L&D jobs.
Then, I became a mother myself, and my world changed. I had an amazing hospital waterbirth using Hypnobabies techniques, and I fell even more in love with all things pregnancy and birth related. I also discovered an interest in breastfeeding as I navigated my way through the process with my own daughter. My professional dreams were sort of put on hold as I enjoyed my time learning how to be a mother.
A few years later I had my second daughter in another waterbirth, this time at a freestanding birth center and using the Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis program. Her birth and immediate postpartum time were idyllic, until about 2 months in and I developed postpartum depression and anxiety. The next 6 months or so were pretty much dedicated to my healing and recovery from that horrible and crippling disease.
Overcoming my PPD lit a fire under me to help other women, and helped me to discover my true purpose, and I felt I could no longer wait to try and achieve my goals. I decided to take some active steps towards my goals outside of a nursing job and I signed up for postpartum doula training, CLC course, and the Hypnobabies instructor training. Finally, as I was taking my future into my own hands, I also was fortunate enough to get hired at a new freestanding birth center in Thornton.
I feel so privileged now, after all this dreaming, to offer families postpartum support, lactation counseling, and Hypnobabies courses. Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are immensely intimate and vulnerable times, and I feel honored to be invited along on those journeys. My hope is to help all the families I serve, really thrive and enjoy their experience of bringing a new baby into the world.
When I’m not working you can find me riding bikes around Erie with my family, baking/decorating all sorts of goodies, and reading anything I can get my hands on.
