Janine is a Childbirth International certified birth doula. Shortly after beginning her work with women as a prenatal yoga instructor, she knew she was hooked and the awe-inspiring work of being a doula found her shortly after the birth of her first son. Her intent is to ensure that mamas and their partners have the best birth experience they can and make conscious decisions throughout their journey. How she works with each mama or couple looks different as each birth experience is different. She reads the energy in the room, acknowledges the wishes of how they want her to be involved and then moves with the rhythm of the parents. The compliments she receives most often from past clients are that she is knowledgeable and has a calming presence. She believes now, after having the privilege of attending births all around the area, that she has the kind of energy and can move energy in way that is conducive to having a powerful and positive birth experience.
Janine loves being in the presence of pregnant women, especially when she has the opportunity to listen and hold space for them. Outside of teaching and doula-ing, she is a mama to four boys, a runner and a baker. She loves running and hiking the trails and is always thinking about her next ultra race even if it’s years in advance. While she used to go to shows and concerts regularly she now saves up for special shows and family music nights. One of her favorite songs is Soldier of Love because the message is timeless and seems to ring true through so many life happenings.
When you choose Janine to be your doula, you will meet together for two prenatal meetings and one or two postnatal meetings. She will be on call for you from 37 weeks and support you in whatever way best serves you. She will meet you when you want her during labor and stay until you and your family are comfortable after the birth of your baby.
