Emily is a trained birth and postpartum doula through Birth Arts International, a certifying organization that reflects her beliefs on women’s innate wisdom and the power of physiologic birth. She has studied extensively in the areas of herbalism, aromatherapy, and nutrition/cooking, and strongly believes in a holistic approach to well being.
As a certified Yoni (vaginal) Steam Therapist, Emily specializes in postpartum care and is currently completing certification as an INNATE Postpartum Care Provider. When working with Emily pre- and/or postnatally, clients will have access to an array of natural remedies, treatments, and resources. She can provide herbal and nutritional protocols for healing and rejuvenation and can assist in meal planning and prepping as needed.
In pregnancy, birth and postpartum, Emily’s passion is to provide a deep level of confidence and comfort in the birthing parents and partners. This is a life-changing period, to say the least. With so many opinions to hear and choices to make, Emily can act as a sounding board and help to solidify her clients’ birth preferences and plans. She not only “doulas” the birthing woman, but also the birth partner, encouraging him or her to experience birth and postpartum as fully as possible.
Emily is an Oklahoma native with a love of wide open spaces and red dirt. Although she can be a girly-girl at times, she enjoys hiking, bird watching, and getting her hands (and feet!) in the Earth while gardening. She has played the violin for more than 20 years and loves everything from bluegrass and classical to folk and rock. (Strike up a conversation about the 60s and 70s — her favorite music era — and you could be there a while.) Her doula work uses her varied interests, background, and disciplines to create a well-rounded and nurturing model of care for her clients.
